Coronavirus COVID-19

The representative of who stated that the second wave of coronavirus in Russia depends on the behavior of Russians

The possibility of a second wave of coronavirus infection in Russia depends on the Russians ‘ compliance with security measures. About this TASS said the representative of the world health organization (who) in Russia, Melita Vujnović.

According to her, the epidemic has not yet come to an end, therefore, all countries, their governments and the residents must learn and take into account the accumulated actions over the past six months to prevent major outbreaks in future. “We have to remember that the decrease in the number of new cases COVID-19 is largely a result of these measures, public health and physical distancing, and not only the progress of the development of the epidemiological process. Each of us has its important role in containing the spread of the novel coronavirus, and especially at this stage, there is still no effective and safe vaccines and drugs for the treatment of COVID-19. Accordingly, people’s behaviour will determine the further development of the pandemic in Russia and other countries”, — said Vujnović.

Assessment of the epidemiological situation in the country is primarily the role of national governments, she said, speaking about the situation in the Russian regions. — There is no dilemma “health and economy”, however, measures must be adapted to the new reality, when the virus is present in the population, and critically important is the its willingness of the health system to identify cases, isolate, treat, detect and monitor the contact persons who need to be quarantined”. “Thus, nobody can give an accurate prediction. But if we all work together and can control small clusters, it is possible to avoid significant spread of the virus and large-scale measures affecting the whole society”, — concluded Vujnović.

The strengthening of the pandemic on the global urovnevaja health organization almost daily registers record levels of infection by the coronavirus in the world, which indicates an increase of the pandemic at the global level.

At the global level, the pandemic intensifies, and almost daily in who received information about the record number of cases. A total of six months, who has registered more than 10 million cases COVID-19, and for each of the last two weeks, there were more than a million cases,”she said.

Vujnović indicated that a sharp increase in the number of cases observed in North and South America, the highest incidence is recorded also in South-East Asia and Africa. “Brazil, the United States and India remain the three most affected countries over the last few days”, she added.

To prevent a second wave of the pandemic

Preventing the second wave of the pandemic coronavirus in the world is possible with the accepted package of measures aimed at combating the spread of the virus.

Safer than our behavior from the point of view of the spread of the virus (distancing, hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, access to a doctor when the first symptoms), the higher the likelihood that we can prevent or control the second wave”, — said Vujnović.

Vujnović stressed that the reduction in the number of new cases of coronavirus in different countries is not only due to the natural course of the epidemic, but also by adopting a comprehensive public health measures, both medical and non-medical in nature. “Following the restrictive measures and adapt their behavior, each of us contributes to protecting the health of not only their families, but for society as a whole”, she added.

According to the representative who, if the individual cases of infection with coronavirus will be monitored, they will not develop into a new outbreak, and you will not need to impose such stringent measures, which were applied earlier this year.

We need to continue to identify and test all suspected cases, isolate and treat confirmed cases and trace their contacts, and quarantine, and to maintain the readiness of the health system for the reception and treatment of new cases. In compliance with all known measures possible to prevent a repetition of what happened in the first half of 2020 and win the time has not yet developed a safe and effective vaccine and is not determined medicine for treatment”, concluded Vujnović.

Not to forget about protection

Muscovites should not forget about protection from coronavirus, in spite of the psychological fatigue.

“Obviously, people in Russia and in other countries experiencing fatigue, including psychological, associated with the need for long-term adherence to restrictive measures,’ she said, commenting on the decline in the number of people in the capital that follow masono-glove mode. — But we must not forget that the reduction of new cases of coronavirus is not due to the natural course of the epidemic, and by adopting a comprehensive public health measures to stop local transmission of the virus and thanks to the responsible people who abide by these measures, although it is very difficult.”

Vujnović noted that in recent weeks a sharp increase in the number of diseases at the global level suggests that “now is not the time to forget about preventive measures, even in such places as Moscow, where a decrease in cases of infection”. “At any moment, the situation may be reversed, because the virus is still among us,”she said.
