Siluanov said that the false allegations about the cyber attacks would not harm the Russian economy

The Russian Finance Minister stressed that Moscow is not working with the hackers and not coordinating them.

The Russian authorities do not use the services of hackers, false allegations that will not damage the economy. This was stated by Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov in an interview to the American channel CNBC, published on July 21.

Siluanov was asked to comment on the adoption of the National cybersecurity center in the UK that hackers, allegedly associated with the Russian special services tried to steal information about the development in UK, Canada and the United States of a vaccine against coronavirus. As the Minister said, whose words are in English, “any hackers working for the Russian authorities”. He noted that Moscow is not considering the possibility of attracting hackers to any action “and does not coordinate them.”

Siluanov said that the Russian side is not involved in any cyber attacks, including an alleged attempt to obtain data on the development of a vaccine against coronavirus. The Minister drew attention to the fact that Russia is developing its own vaccine. “So really, I don’t see the point in that the hackers were involved in these actions,” — he stressed.

According to the channel, Siluanov expressed concern that allegations of hackers can make Russia less attractive for investors, which will harm the economy. “How might this affect the economy? I don’t think this could have any impact on the economy. We carry out our own course of anti-crisis measures, we will carry them out. Unfortunately, these negative publications from time to time appear” — are the material words of the Minister.

“Most importantly, what kind of policy we conduct. She is balanced, he added. I was talking about our fiscal policy at the meeting of Finance Ministers of the group of twenty. We have no problems with, in order to eliminate the budget deficit, we find domestic investors. Should we resort to external borrowings? See, it all depends on market conditions. However, I am sure that we will have the opportunity to carry out external loans at great rates”.

Siluanov also stressed the importance of attracting investment. “There was a recovery of activity of the domestic investors in our economy, we are also always happy to foreign investors, he said. — I would not agree that Russia’s image has suffered due to hacker attacks or other negative news, this was not. The most important thing a balanced macroeconomic policy that we hold.”
