In the Russian Federation up to the year 2021 can be put some quarantine measures related to pandemic coronavirus infection. Such forecasts were made by experts of consulting company Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Completely stop the epidemic of coronavirus, likely to succeed only in 2021. It was then that scientists will create an effective vaccine. Up to this point, Russia’s economy will lose up to 10% of GDP, these forecasts are made by experts BCG. Also a series of quarantine measures will be accompanied by a large number of bankruptcies in small and medium-sized businesses.
In addition, experts presented three possible scenario of occurrence of a pandemic in the Russian Federation. The most optimistic of them excludes the occurrence in Russia of repeated waves of coronavirus infection. In this case, the country will lose for 2020 only about 6% of GDP.
The worst scenario involves the complete failure of the healthcare system in opposition to virus. In this case, the Russian economy will fall by 15%. According to BCG experts, the development of the scenario “second nineties” is unlikely.
The company’s specialists believe that in this situation the government needs to focus on strengthening the health sector in the country.
