Rospotrebnadzor experts conducted a study on the disinfecting properties of several tens of substances for disinfection of surfaces. This was reported in the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
The Ministry said that the coronaviruses retains its viability on a variety of subjects and materials more than 48 hours and can be a source of infection.
“In total were tested disinfectant properties of dozens of different substances: chlorine and alcohol-based disinfectants, disinfectants based on Quaternary ammonium compounds and tertiary amines. It was shown that all these disinfectants quickly and efficiently kill the virus. Ethyl and isopropyl alcohols even at a concentration of 30% is able to destroy up to a million virus particles in 30 seconds”, — stated in the message.
Chlorine means a fully decontaminated surface for several tens of seconds. While disinfectant based on tertiary and Quaternary amines lead to the loss of viability of the coronavirus within a few minutes.
The Ministry recalled that only strict observance of all the recommendations will protect against infection with novel coronavirus infection. “Cleaning and disinfectant treatment of all surfaces, located in close proximity with a person infected with a coronavirus, and processing of hand — the bare minimum of preventive measures along with the use of personal protective equipment,” — noted in Rospotrebnadzor.
