Coronavirus COVID-19

Scientists found 21 drug for the treatment of COVID-19

American scientists from the Institute of medical research Sanford Burnham conducted an analysis of more than 12 thousand of drugs that are already approved by the FDA regulator for the person or have undergone thorough safety checks for clinical testing. They identified 100 molecules with proven antiviral activity, which blocked the replication of SARS-CoV-2.

21 the drug has been shown effective in concentrations that could be safely used in people infected with coronavirus.

Two drugs already approved to treat patients with allergies (astemizole) and leprosy (clofazimine). Four drugs have shown efficacy in combination with redecision — the only drug that has received permission for emergency use against COVID-19. The remaining tested in clinical trials for the treatment of various diseases.

“The study significantly expands the possibilities of therapy COVID-19, given data on the safety for humans,” — said study author Sumit Chandra.
