Researchers from the National laboratory for infectious diseases Boston University, said that the coronavirus can be completely destroyed with the help of the far ultraviolet radiation. This was reported by the Biospace portal.
A group of scientists under the guidance of microbiologist, Anthony Griffith conducted an experiment in which they were treated with contaminated the virus SARS-CoV-2 material with different doses of UV radiation and evaluated the rate of destruction of the pathogen.
It was found that at a dose of 5 MJ/cm2 spread of the virus has declined by 99 percent over six seconds. When exposed at 22 MJ/cm2, the virus completely destroyed in 25 seconds.
According to researchers, energy-saving lamp power of 13 watts is able to clean from the particles of the coronavirus room of 15 square meters.
Scientists have noted that ultraviolet radiation is used as a germicide for 40 years and during that time none of the hundreds of tested viruses could not survive this exposure. However, radiation is dangerous for humans.
