First case of coronavirus detected in Ukrainian prisons

As reported in social networks, the Ombudsman
Lyudmila Denisova, one of the Ukrainian prisons had registered a case
infection of coronavirus disease. Furthermore, among prisoners
the infection is not detected.

Denisova stressed that COVID-19 diagnosed the personnel of the penitentiary institutions, located in the Western region. One case was confirmed using rapid testing, the other using the PCR method. Infected employees from 6 April are at the home treatment. At the moment the institution is carried out epidemiological investigation to establish the circle of persons with whom they had contacts infected. As stressed by the Ombudsman, coronavirus infection among prisoners on April 23 have not been identified. She also requested to ensure the isolation of all staff, which was was the disease.
