Coronavirus COVID-19

Epidemiologist called the inevitable second wave of coronavirus in Russia

The second wave of coronavirus in Russia is inevitable, but we can hardly expect the same rigid regime of self-isolation. TASS said the Deputy Director on scientific work of the Central research Institute of epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Aleksandr Gorelov.

According to him, usually stabilization of the epidemiological situation occurs when immunity to the virus in 30 percent of the population. When this figure reaches 60-70%, coronavirus, go into a seasonal disease. Now in Moscow antibodies to the virus detected in 20 percent of the population. “Therefore, the laws of the genre of the epidemiology and Virology of the second wave is inevitable“, — said the epidemiologist, adding that it will come with the rise of other respiratory diseases in the cold season.

The specialist noted that a new wave may be stronger than the first, if only for the summer coronaviruses mutate and acquire new properties. The possibility of such a scenario is low, because typically, over time, the virus weakens and learns not to kill a man, allowing himself survival and proliferation.

Gorelov called hard self-imposed isolation in the future is unlikely, noting that health facilities are ready for development and available beds enough. “It’s not the same as it was in the beginning“, — said the epidemiologist.

The spokesman added that the strict regime of restrictions to enter is not meaningful, because “there is no gateway that would allow” the infection is transmitted by airborne droplets.

Informed doctor of medical Sciences, Professor Viktor Zuev urged Russians not to be afraid of coronavirus infection, because it will become a seasonal disease and a vaccine.
