The first Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection of the new type is called “Satellite V”. The name is connected with the cosmos.

This was told on the official site of the vaccine. An appropriate name was given by analogy with the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite in 1957. “Sputnik-1” intensified space exploration around the world.

Recall that the outbreak of an unknown pneumonia in the Chinese city of Wuhan was recorded on 31 December last year. Scientists found that the causative agent is a new coronavirus COVID-19.

Earlier gazeta.spb.ru reported that immunity to coronavirus infection after the introduction of the Russian vaccine persists for up to two years. This was told in the Ministry of health of Russia.
